Reason why I don't watch 'dancing with the stars'

There are a few reasons why I don't watch the famous ABC show 'dancing with the stars' anymore.
But here's the most important one:

No Moshu NO!

..is what you will hear us saying all most of the time around here.

Moksh wants anything and EVERYTHING that we have in our hands.

If we are on the phone, he wants the phone!

If we are working on our laptops, he wants it.

If we are trying to make a video of him... yep, you guessed it right. He wants the video camera.

Here's a little 16-seconds proof:

We'll probably have to play with his toys to see if we can trick him :)

8 months!

Yep, that's how old our babe is!

Let me see-
He is certainly more social now, thanks to the trip to Lake Geneva, WI (more on that later) and the Kellogg Kids group.

He is still crazy about cables. I gave him a basket full of toys, but he chose to pluck the cable out of the mini-DVD player to play with. Even if something looks remotely like a cable, he wants it. Like the running tap water. He can spend good 10 minutes trying to catch it.

Oh, he is getting his third tooth. A big upper incisor :)

His favorite meals- breakfast (rice or oatmeal cereal) and dinner (rice, daal and a vegetable).

He's become a lot stronger. After he got his first cold/cough/ear infection last weekend, I took him to the doctor. He just wouldn't let the doctor examine him and the doctor was quite surprised to see his strength.

He's beginning to talk babble a lot more. His favorite words are amma and annu abba and babba.

He smiles and giggles and laughs a lot more. And on that note, I'd like to share a video with you all.

First, let me give you guys the background. Moksh was drinking water out of his sippy cup for the first time. Once he was done, he wanted to play with the sippy cup. I was happy to let him play. But the only problem was there was still water remaining in the cup. And he was spilling it all over the bed. I was feeling a little lazy to go toss the water out, so I decided to drink it. Moksh saw me and thought it was the funniest thing he had ever ever seen! Every single sip I took made him laugh uncontrollably. See it know know what I mean:

Actions speak louder..

Kids sure have a way of letting you know when they are ready for something or when they need something, even before they can start talking. We have experienced this a few times with Moksh. Let me tell you about a specific instance.

We have been using a Graco infant car seat and a carrier frame as a stroller for Moksh, for the past 8 months. Here's an old picture of Moksh in his stroller at age 7 weeks.

He sure is an outdoorsy person. And so, he loves it when we take him for a walk. Until recently, he was also very satisfied with his stroller, even though it is rear facing. I guess he didn't mind looking at us for the most part. Plus I guess he was just happy to be out.

But things have changed in the past couple weeks. I think he is done looking at us and wants to look around at newer, more interesting people and things. Interestingly, he has also figured where to look :) As soon as we take him out on his stroller, this has been happening:

In the picture below, Milind is trying to convince Moksh to turn around and sit down. But for some reason he thought that was funny :)

He is making it LOUD and clear to us that he is ready for a new, front facing stroller. Isn't he?

Goo-goo Baa Ga-ga (Happy Father's Day)

On Father’s Day, Meg and Moshu decided to surprise me. When I came back from work, Moshu, with some help and prodding from Meg, gave me a Father’s Day gift. It was a letter and a decortive paper plate that Moshu was taught to make at the Story-Time class that Meg takes him to at the Public Library near our house.

As you can see, Moshu was busy putting the final touches to the packaging when I got home.

Moshu then, as a show of affection did what he does for anything that he loves: he bites on to it.

Here’s Moshu read out to his old man how much I mean to him: it was hard to put a price to it but I think it is somewhere in the range of the cost of a year’s supply of cables that he can pull at.

And here’s my boy telling me that I’m the bestest dad there is… so long as I promise to carry him around whenever I see him.

Palm Springs diary: Bath time

4 adults, 1 baby, stuff enough for a week for all of us in 1 honda accord? Tight... very tight.

Before my mum could get started with her packing, she learnt that our suite at Palm Springs would have a full kitchen. The first thing she packed- A prestige pressure cooker! And of course a ton of groceries so as to justify carrying the cooker. That did not help Milind and me one bit, while trying to figure out how to pack things into the trunk of our car. But honestly, the pressure cooker did seem more important as compared to Moksh's little bath tub.

So we came up with a simple rule for Moksh's bath time. If we had to be up and out early, Moksh got a bath in the kitchen sink.
Trust me, he did enjoy it!

In this picture above I see a strong resemblance between Milind and Moksh. May be it is just his expression... can't put a finger on it.

And on "rest" days where we did not really have to rush anywhere, Moksh got Jacuzzi time. He had a blast swimming, playing with his beach ball and playing/cuddling with Milind. Here are a few pictures:

Things are going to change

Yes, it seems like things are going to change around here.... pretty soon!

Moksh has been super active in the recent past. He keeps grabbing/pulling everything that's within his reach. The good thing (for me, not for him) is that he can only travel so much. If there are things that I don't want him to mess with, I just have to make sure it's about 3 or more meters away from where is. I know this won't last for long. Look at this video below and you might agree with me.

Okay, who am I kidding? I am so looking forward to this change! I can't wait for Moksh to start crawling :). But until then, I'll relax and enjoy this time.
